DS Coronation

Indoors
In direct sunlight (click to enlarge for more detail)
Today I'm wearing...

OPI DS Coronation. I wanted some nail bling for Halloween so this polish was an obvious choice. OPI's "Designer Series" (DS) polishes contain diamond dust...hello bling! The polish is clear with microscopic glitter (diamond dust?) suspended in it. But the party really starts in direct light when the holographic glitter reflects a rainbow of color. It's definitely not your average glitter polish. When not in a spotlight, my nails look like a hazy gray, so I like this color shade or shine. I'm not sure what the "diamond dust" is or does, but I like it!

Application: The glitter builds up to opaqueness. I used three thin coats in the above, but I can still see my nail through it, so you could do 2 -3 more, or just do 3 or so thicker coats. I bet it would look good with one or two layers over a darker color as well if you want to add some holographic glitter to your favorite polish.

Where to Buy: This came out in 2008 so it's not likely to be easy to find in stores. I found it online at www.transdesign.com for $7.25. There is a series of 16 colors. I've also purchased DS extravagence, a magenta, so I'll be swatching that soon.

  1. Hi! I was just wondering.. is this color similar to the new DS series color Radiance? I just thought that might be easier to find in stores.

  2. DS Radiance comes out looking a bit more silver foil-like whereas Coronation is more of a holographic glitter bomb
