| Michelle Obama at the podium of the 2012 Democratic National Convention |
I LOVE that Michelle Obama did not go boring with her nails while giving a big speech at the Democratic National Convention last night. No neutral invisible shade here! She picked an on-trend color that could be SEEN on camera. In fact, people are quite clamoring to figure out the name of that lovely blue-grey. I have not found a successful ID anywhere. I'm going to guess it's Essie's Cocktail Bling.
What do you think it is? You might have to click on the image to enlarge it in order to get a good look. Do you like her color choice?
Update: I contacted the Obama campaign (yes, that's right, MFM is doing REAL REPORTING!) and confirmed that the First Lady is actually wearing a gel manicure. It is Artistic Nail Design's Artistic Colour Gloss soak-off gel in "Vogue".

| "Vogue" bottle and swatch |
Vogue looks like a medium grey-toned purple. I think BeachGal's comment is probably right, and what we see in photos and on camera is distorted by the intense colored lighting. So, if you want the look you think you see, a soft, greyish blue, then I'd still go with Essie's Cocktail Bling.
*Let's pause to acknowledge the fact that I haven't posted in quite a while! I just needed a bit of a break, but I'm going to try and get back in the swing of things now. Thanks for reading!

I think she looked great!
ReplyDeleteTons of buzz over what shade this was...I thought that might happen when I saw the speech last night. It was a great choice to not match the border color of her dress exactly but pull tie it in close. Really hard to tell if it was a grey/blue or a gray...the back wall was flooded with blue lights to turn it to a blue backdrop. The actual color of the backdrop is white and red..and she was flooded in front with white lights. At times I thought it was a med gray like close to ChG Elephant Walk and it was just the lighting giving the blue read to it. Hopefully the First Lady's office will realize folks want to know and release the shade - that is IF it ended up it's a US company polish she was wearing..if say it's a Nails Inc or other non USA company we won't ever hear the shade..but Cocktail Bling is a good guess for what this might be. She looked amazing. I want her arms but don't want to do the work to get 'em!
ReplyDeleteI love how she chose a pretty color someone said it looked like Zoya I just cant remember which
ReplyDeleteThe closest color to this in my stash is "Living in the Moment" by SpaRitual, which is available for $10 on Amazon--but it's a cream, Vogue has some shimmer. For anyone looking to add gray's to their stash, I also recommend taking a look at Nubar's Fortress collection. It's a collection of 8 different grays. I own "Barricade" and I love it.
