Texture! Texture! Texture!

First, nail polish companies played with finish: matte or "Suede" vs glossy...

Then they toyed with consistency and opacity: jelly and "Sorbet" vs the standard opaque cream...

Most recently, they played with effects: magnetic patterns, "Crackle" and "Shatter"...

And now, it's all about TEXTURE!

Have you noticed the influx of polishes that challenge the assumption that nails have to dry to a smooth finish?

Zoya "color spoons" swatches for the Pixie Dust collection

OPI, Zoya, and Nails Inc have each recently released polishes that purposefully dry bumpy, calling the effect "liquid sand", "pixie dust" and "leather effect", respectively.

I haven't tried them out yet, as they didn't initially appeal to me, but I am getting curious. How about you? Have you tried them out yet? What do you think?

  1. It's a new trend, and I'll probably try it, like I did for past ones. But honestly, all this looks like to me is a glitter polish with a matte top coat. I won't bother shelling out for these new gimmicky polishes!
